James R. Hubbard was born June 8, 1835, in Rome, New York. His mother, Julia, was born in 1793 in Connecticut, father not known. James married Louisa Moffat Hubbard on February 12, 1856. She was from a long line of Jefferson County Moffats. He worked for a time as a watchmaker. From digitized newspapers it became clear that James fought in the civil war. He was a member of the Willet Guard, Company F,101st Regiment, New York State Militia and he died in April 1864. His family lived in Jefferson County. Is that where he is buried? Or could he possibly be buried in the Philadelphia National Cemetery? What happened to James Hubbard and where is he buried?
